Wexford Youths advanced to the next round of the EA Sports Cup at the expense of Limerick FC at Jackman Park tonight. A dramatic penalty shootout was the decider after both sides finished level after extra-time.
Gavin Doyle put the visitors ahead with a superb free kick two minutes after the deficit but substitute Stephen Goggins equalised for Limerick in the 81st minute to force extra time. Wexford’s Pa Doyle was the hero as he saved Martin Deady’s penalty to send Wexford into the next round.
