Title chasing Shels at Tolka is daunting task for stuttering Youths

Mick Wallace had plenty of time to reflect on his sides 0-0 draw with Mervue United last week as Galway to Wexford is quite a trek. However, more importantly he had plenty of time to look at his sides next three fixtures, Shelbourne, Waterford and Sporting Fingal may be a scary prospect for some managers, but Mick Wallace isn’t your typical manager.

Speaking to Wallace’s assistant Noel O’Connor he said; ‘We always get excited about playing at Tolka Park, it’s a great occasion and we’re all looking forward to it. There obviously the favourites to win the League, but we’ll be well prepared for Friday night’.

Wallace has little injuries to note with just Keith Kearney still unavailable. However, he does have a selection headache with numerous of his U20 players performing marvelously in their 3-1 victory over Limerick last weekend. Goals from Gareth McCurtin, Kevin Rowe were followed by a Shane Dempsey strike rumoured to be the best of his life, Wallace will be hoping for more of the same tomorrow night.

Jimmy Keohane will be hoping to retain his place in the starting line up, while Tiernan Rossiter and Martin Kehoe will be hoping to get some minutes on the pitch after impressing in Limerick.

McCuritn mean while is back in contention for selection after missing the Mervue game through suspension.

O’Connor went on to say; ‘We feel that we’ve been a bit unlucky with our previous two meetings against Shels this season. We lost both fixtures 2-1 and we feel we deserved more from both games’.

Youths fans will be hoping history doesn’t repeat itself tomorrow night.
